Company - Thesis | Approach | TeamTeam Terry Vance, Managing Member Prior to co-founding EGS Healthcare Capital Partners, Mr. Vance co-founded and ran Eagle Partners, a healthcare focused financial advisory firm. Previously with StoneyHill Ventures, he provided strategic and investment advice to a number of healthcare companies and investors, including Goldman Sachs’ merchant bank and Quintiles Transnational, Inc., the world’s largest contract research organization. He formerly managed private equity distribution at Goldman Sachs and was later a group head within the Capital Markets Division, where his clients included Merck, Warner-Lambert, American Cyanamid, SmithKline Beecham and Rhone-Poulenc Rorer. Mr. Vance graduated with High Honors from Princeton University and received an MBA from Stanford University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of CytoLogix Corporation and Endius, Inc. Abhijeet Lele, Managing Member Mr. Lele joined EGS Healthcare Capital Partners from the healthcare practice of McKinsey & Co. He previously held marketing and business development positions with American Cyanamid Company, Progenics Pharmaceuticals, and Clontech Laboratories, and worked for S.R. One, Limited, the venture capital subsidiary of SmithKline Beecham. He also conducted research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the National Institutes of Health. Mr. Lele holds an MA in Molecular Biology from Cambridge University and an MBA, with distinction, from Cornell University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of EKOS Corporation, Optiscan Biomedical Corporation, Cryocath Technologies (TSE: CYT), EP MedSystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EPMD), Stereotaxis, Inc. (NASDAQ: STXS) and Medarex, Inc (NASDAQ: MEDX). He also serves on the Research and Development Committee of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Frederic Greenberg, Founding Member Mr. Greenberg is a co-founder of the EGS Group and oversees all healthcare investment activity at the EGS Group. Before co-founding the EGS Group, Mr. Greenberg was the head of healthcare industry research and the senior pharmaceutical industry analyst at Goldman Sachs for 15 years. He was Institutional Investor’s #1-ranked pharmaceutical industry analyst for every year from 1982 to 1988. Mr. Greenberg has served on several boards of directors of public and private companies in which EGS Partners has previously invested. He holds an undergraduate degree in pharmacy from Brooklyn College of Pharmacy and an MBA from the City University of New York. Michael Derby, Principal Mr. Derby joined EGS Healthcare Capital Partners from Merck & Co. At Merck, he held positions in sales, marketing, and business development, where he helped evaluate licensing and acquisition opportunities for new products and technologies. Prior to joining Merck he worked as an Equity Research Associate covering the pharmaceutical industry at ING Baring Furman Selz. He also previously conducted research in molecular neurobiology at Harvard Medical School and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and has published papers in the peer-reviewed scientific press. Mr. Derby received a BS, with honors, from Johns Hopkins University, an MS in Neuroscience from the University of Rochester, and an MBA, with distinction, from New York University.
